Short commercials way back when VH1 was like 80s MTV, plus more Top 40 and adult contemporary; and played almost nothing but videos and music related programming, with a little bit of other stuff like standup comedy..

LATE 1991 and 1992:

"90 Second News Update" intro with Gordon Steinke.
"Hits News and Weather" bumper for a morning show of music videos mixed with weather and national news updates.
"If it's on VH1, it's a hit!" with Sting talking, also Steve Winwood and Paula Abdul video clips.
"Flix" (movie reviews) special on old time gangsters.
"The Greatest Hits of Music Video"
Jingle 1
"Video Rewind" a block of 80s videos from one year
"Hit After Hit" groovy psychedelic bumper
Jingle 2
Standup Spotlight comedy show which even had Rosie O'Donnell as MC and host.
"24 Hours of Music Video" bumper with a funky bass!
VeeJay Rowe Jones with his unique way of pronouncing words (Sponsored - "spunsored", and Volkswagen - "Volkswoggin").
-"VH1 By Request" with a guy calling for MJ's Black or White for a girl.

(Credit to Rowe himself for the following three from '92 or '93)

"The greatest video hits of all time, period!"
"All the hit videos, all day and all night."
Madonna On The Spot interview

DECEMBER 1993 (probably used into 1994 too):

(Credit to Michael Pannoni) This was a transitional period when they still had ties to their circa 1990 programming, but were expanding and it had more of a "90s 90s" vibe, like with more urban and R&B music, and other non-music related shows.

"Let's see your radio do this!"
Promo for Jonathan Ross' interview with Michael Bolton
"The fountain of youth with a volume control" promo.
All day standup comedy marathon (they still did lots of Standup Spotlight at the time, which was huge from 89-92).
Slow, twangy VH1 Country promo for a block of videos.
"Music Talks" promo.
"VH1, turn it on and leave it on!"
Fashion Sunday promo, including a Top 21 Countdown hosted by Rachel Hunter.
