Under The 'Covers' With Friends - Feat. Sean Altman - Crazy Little Thing Called Love (By Queen) QuaranTUNE 23.
It's time to settle in and check out our 23rd QuaranTUNE, Queen's "Crazy Little Thing Called Love". Freddie Mercury was famously quoted that he wrote this rockabilly tribute to Elvis Presley in "about 5 or 10 minutes" while soaking in a bath. "I wrote a good song... I think", he said in an interview. Yep, he did. It was released in December of 1979 and went on to hold on to the #1 spot in the US for an entire month. The song is a flat out, straight up classic and ushered in a new, less "Progy" direction for Queen (another #1, "Another One Bites The Dust" was right around the corner). Another interesting bit of info, (Warning, Queen Geek Alert!) it may be the only Queen song in which Brian May's home-made "Red Special" guitar does not appear! On "Crazy", Brian used a beat up old Fender Telecaster, so in tribute, I followed suit as you'll see. Our good friend, singer-songwriter and founder of famed a cappella vocal group, Rockapella, Sean Altman returns to rock with us! Pat Wolf is doing Roger Taylor proud on drums, Vincent LaRussa is channeling John Deacon on Bass and I'm just trying to keep up with Mr. May! Now, let's get Crazy!
