This great Woody Guthrie song is presented with the lyrics, chords and a suggested strumming pattern, so you can play or sing along with me and learn how to perform this classic tune.
A song sheet containing the full lyrics and chords can be viewed or downloaded from my songbook blog here: https://jezquaylesongbookhome.files.wordpress.com/2019/01/this-land-is-your-land-in-c-with-capo.pdf
Woody's songs are great if you're new to the guitar, as he never used any more than three, simple chords: often C, F and G7 (with a capo). The G chord I play in this video can be replaced by a G7. If you wish to learn more about Woody's guitar technique, I've produced a couple of tutorial videos:

Woody wrote 'This Land Is Your Land' back in 1940 at a time when the patriotic, Irving Berlin song, ‘God Bless America’ was extremely popular. That song annoyed him, as its lyrics ignored the inequality and great hardship being experienced by many Americans following the 'great depression' and dust bowl. As a response he decided to write a song that not only expressed the pride and love he felt for his country, but also highlighted some of the problems he was seeing on his travels.
If you're American then you may have grown up singing this song at school or summer camp, albeit a version that misses out the three 'political' verses, as I have the version I sing here. All six verses can be seen in my downloadable pdf song sheet (see link above), and I sing all six in this video: https://youtu.be/Dzvvwt4CC6c
Whilst Woody wrote this song, his friend and fellow folk singer/songwriter, Pete Seeger is largely responsible for popularizing it.
I hope you enjoy strumming along with me! - Jez
