This is Bijayashree, and welcome to Episode 8 of Shastriya Sangeet Shala. Today, we'll learn the notation of the Ganesh Mantra 'Vakra Tunndda' which we have already learnt in Episode 7. This mantra composed by me utilises all the 7 Swaras/ Notes of music with Tibra Madhyam (Sharp M) and rest all shuddha swaras (Major Notes)

वक्रतुण्ड महाकाय सूर्यकोटि समप्रभ
निर्विघ्नं कुरु मे देव सर्वकार्येषु सर्वदा

Vakra-Tunndda Maha-Kaaya
Suurya-Kotti Samaprabha

Nirvighnam Kuru Me Deva
Sarva-Kaaryessu Sarvadaa

English Translation:
Salutations to Lord Sri Ganesha who has a Curved mouth/trunk, a grand physique and who has a brilliance equivalent to a million or more Suns.
O Lord, please bless me to make everything in my life free of obstacles always.

Bijayashree is based in Switzerland since 2006 and teaching Indian classical music at Ateliers d’ethnomusicologie (ADEM), Geneva and Zurich besides playing in concerts and teaching world wide through online classes.
