Paul McCartney shows off new beard and white hair after ditching dye for natural look

After being sighted this week with white hair in London, Paul McCartney seemed to have given up on hair dye.

The Beatles rocker, who is 81 years old, clearly has strong hair genes since despite his advanced age, there is no evidence of a receding hairline. But now his hair is more of a grey/white colour rather than the brown it was thought he had dyed it for 30 years.

Paul appeared hurried because he hadn't shaved, despite the fact that he was wearing a smart dark suit with a white shirt underneath. Alternatively, might his white stubble be an effort to grow back the renowned beard he rocked in his prime?

From 1969 until 1971, the Hey Jude singer sported a full beard. Because of how much people adore it, there are even blog postings explaining how to replicate the look for his hordes of followers.

Paul will be happy that he is no longer being attacked for continuing to reach for the hair dye, whatever the reasons for his new appearance. The actor is rumoured to have preferred to save money by dyeing it oneself back when he was married to Heather Mills.

He apparently started colouring it himself using a home dye kit from the drugstore because getting a dye job at a salon cost him about £120 each time. Heather was concerned, though, because "people were making fun of the colour."

On his then-wife Heather's advice, he started going to a hair salon in New York, but it was later reported the business distanced itself from the Fab Four legend because people continued asking them for the formula to his hair colour when he had gone somewhere else.

Paul is currently wed to New York businesswoman Nancy Shevell, his third wife. The 63-year-old and Paul, who wed in a charming ceremony at London's Old Marylebone Town Hall in October 2011, are about to commemorate their 12th wedding anniversary. The couple first met in 2007.
