Written by Bradley Clark. Produced by David Courtney.
The nucleus of the Manikins originated from a Perth, Western Australia group, the Cheap Nasties in the late 70s. At one time that band included Dave Faulkner who went on to found the Hoodoo Gurus. By 1982, a revived Manikins had relocated to Melbourne and eventually signed with CBS.
“What Are You On” / “Dictator’s Dream” was the first single and a self-titled album followed, from which a couple of tracks were issued as singles before the band broke up in the early 90s. “Scent” was one of these singles and, according to the “Encyclopedia of Australian Rock And Pop” was the 1st CD single released in Australia.
Writer Bradley Clark was a member of the group. The female lead vocalist is Christine Bodey. Producer David Courtney had worked extensively with Leo Sayer, co-writing some of his big hits, such as “The Show Must Go On”.
