Lodi is a song written by John Fogerty, performed by Creedence Clearwater Revival, and released in April 1969, four months before the album, as the B-side of "Bad Moon Rising", the lead single from the Green River album.
John Fogerty said that on Lodi, a California town he had never actually visited before writing the song, he envisioned a much older person than himself, and it was sort of a tragic telling. A guy stuck in a place where people really don't appreciate him. Since Fogerty was at the beginning of a good career, he hoped that wouldn't happen to him.
The song has been covered by many artists, including Emmylou Harris, Tom Jones, Buck Owens, Ronnie Hawkins, Bo Diddley, and Lobo.
