Here's a late 50s recording from the hit Congolese musician Leon Bukasa recorded in the late 50s for the Ngoma label. Great example of the incorporation of afro-cuban styles into west african popular music. The single note guitar line and chill percussion almost makes it sound like a precursor to 70s cumbia.
