This week’s Fogerty’s Jukebox goes into the story behind “Down On The Corner”! The line and title of the album, “Willy And The Poor Boys” was inspired by a full-page ad that John saw in a newspaper about “Winnie the Pooh”. John thought of the phrase, “Winnie the Pooh and the Pooh Bears” which eventually became the title “Willy And The Poor Boys” and the premise of the song. In a 1969 appearance on The Music Scene TV show, the band performed the song dressed up as “Willy and the Poor Boys”.
Welcome to the official YouTube page of legendary musician John Fogerty of Creedence Clearwater Revival.
