Our rendition of "I Heard it Through the Grapevine" is influenced mostly by Marvin Gaye's version (the coolest in our opinion), but we borrowed the key (D minor), guitar riff, and backing vocals from Creedence Clearwater Revival. Since our arrangement is so sparse, we've been paying more attention to the bass lately. In this case, Jim is actually playing James Jamerson's (awesome) bass line during the verses using a "Whammy" pedal to double his guitar an octave down.

Original song written by Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong, 1966.
Cover version arranged by Jim Ingalls and Sonali Kolhatkar. Recorded February 26, 2022.
