However, two months later, a version by Elvis Presley hit the market, reaching number four on the Billboard Hot 100 and number two on the Easy Listening Chart - clearly out-performing the initial Del Shannon release.
The “Double A-side single version (with “Little Sister" on the reverse) hit number one spot on both the US and UK Singles Charts, becoming part of Presley’s incredible run of nine UK chart-toppers between 1960 and 1962.
