Written by John Fogerty, Have You Ever Seen The Rain? was first released in 1970 on the Pendulum album, then subsequently released in 1971 as a single.
Though often interpreted as a song about the fading of 1960’s idealism in the face of several distressing events at the beginning of the next decade, Fogerty has stated that it is, in fact, pondering the band’s growing loss of professional satisfaction & personal cohesion. Having become successful & even rich, they were paradoxically discontent with their situations & with each other - literally rain falling from a sunny sky.
