Elvis arrived in Germany the previous day. Today on this date Elvis was assigned to the Ray Kaserne barracks in building 3707 in Friedberg, Germany. He served in Company C, a scout platoon.

Elvis did not stay in the barracks for long. Elvis moved into the Grunewald Hotel and in 1959 he rented a house at 14 Goethestrasse in Bad Nauheim for the remainder of his time in Germany.
