Clark County has officially changed Riviera Boulevard into Elvis Presley Boulevard, bringing the King to the Las Vegas Strip for the first time! Street signs were installed Dec. 28, 2016. The County approved the name change after a request was submitted by the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino. The street connects with the Strip on its west end and Paradise Road at its east terminus.
Elvis’s impact on Las Vegas is undeniable. He first performed at the New Frontier Hotel in 1956 and later had 837 consecutive sold-out performances at the International Hotel from 1969 to 1976. As you know, the International is now the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino. The Riviera Boulevard signs are being sent to the Clark County Museum, where Museums Administrator Mark Hall-Patton of Pawn Stars fame will put them on public display in spring 2017. Elvis Presley Boulevard serves as a key access point for the new diamond lot parking at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The local government with oversight over the Las Vegas Strip is Clark County, located on the web at ClarkCountyNV.gov.
