Pacer Burton is the offspring of a Kiowa mother and a Texan father actively engaged in ranching. His family, which includes his half-brother, Clint, leads a conventional lifestyle on the northern border of Texas. Life gets far from ordinary when a neighbouring tribe of Kiowa initiates raids on adjacent farms. Pacer quickly discovers himself entangled between two realms, elements of each, yet lacking a sense of belonging to either.

Flaming Star is a 1960 American Western film that features Elvis Presley, Barbara Eden, and Steve Forrest in the lead roles. It is an adaptation of the 1958 novel Flaming Lance by Clair Huffaker. Critics unanimously acknowledged that Presley delivered one of his most exceptional acting performances as the mixed-blood character "Pacer Burton," a role of great emotional impact. Don Siegel served as the film's director, and its original title was Black Star.
