Elvis Presley, the legendary King of Rock 'n' Roll, had a deep affection for horses. During his lifetime, he owned around 20 horses and often shared this passion by gifting horses to his friends and bodyguards, regardless of whether they desired one.

His journey with horses began in 1966 when he bought a black Quarter Horse named Domino for his soon-to-be wife, Priscilla. Seeing her joy, Elvis became eager to find a horse for himself, specifically desiring a golden palomino. He would even embark on early morning trips, sometimes at 3:00 AM, visiting farms in search of the perfect horse.

Elvis eventually found his ideal horse, a golden palomino he named Rising Sun. This horse became his favorite, and he even renamed Graceland's barn to "House of the Rising Sun" in its honor. Elvis spent countless hours riding Rising Sun around the Graceland grounds, often riding to the front gates to greet fans.

His enthusiasm didn't stop there. Elvis believed everyone around him should experience the joy of horse ownership. He purchased horses for his friends, bodyguards, and their families, ensuring that even those unfamiliar with riding had a horse of their own. This generosity extended to buying the necessary equipment and even trucks to transport the horses.

In 1967, as his collection of horses grew, Elvis acquired a 163-acre ranch in Mississippi, naming it the Circle G Ranch. This ranch became a retreat where he, along with friends and family, could escape and enjoy horseback riding together.

Elvis's love for horses was evident in the care and attention he gave them. He found solace and relaxation in their company, making them an integral part of his life at Graceland.
