"Alive" is a metaphorical view of the wish to escape social anxiety. In the song, Rachel relates social anxiety to the feeling of being weighted down & asks to give up aspects of herself that are not being represented with authenticity. Ultimately, she asks to give enough away to free herself & escape the burdensome fear of others’ judgments. “Falling into the horizon” represents the weights of our insecurities being lifted; it’s a moment that lights our souls alive, reminding us that our authentic selves are timeless. They have always been within us, but are often masked by our fears & our desire to be accepted. Rachel hopes to encourage others to reconnect with their true selves again, no matter how many years they have been hidden.

Lyrics:
Here’s my heavy heart,
and here’s my heavy soul. Can I give enough
til’ I am whole, til’ I am whole, til’ I am whole?

Here’s my heavy shoes;
they always tied me down.
Can I give them up,
and leave the ground, and leave the ground, and leave the ground?

Pre-Chorus
I’m falling right into the horizon.
It’s calling and renewed, but timeless.
I just need a moment that’s amplified,
where I’m weightless, yet I’m fully lit alive.

Chorus
Can I be weightless, just for tonight,
so I can leave the tide behind?
It’s rarity, I get to be
so fully lit alive.

Here’s my heavy wings;
they only went so far.
Can I give them up,
and ride a star, and ride a star, and ride a star?

Pre-Chorus
Chorus

Bridge
And while at empty, I’m freely whole.
the stars I envied, they fill my soul

Chorus
