Tina Turner became a first-time bride at the age of 73. That’s right, she never actually had a wedding with Ike Turner. Although she had been with Erwin Bach for years, they weren’t officially married until July 4th, 2013. As Tina writes in her 2019 memoir, “the day I become Mrs Bach was going to be a dream.” She organized everything herself and broke a few solid western wedding traditions. Number one. Her dress wasn’t white. Tina believed that brides in white dresses get all the attention, while it should be all about the couple, not just the bride. Tina wore a gorgeous green and black Armani dress with sheer black leggings. Number two. She didn’t want brides maids. The reason for that was very personal. This would remind her of her days with Ike and always being surrounded by his women. Number three. She asked female guests to wear white. She wanted to create a contrast with the fairy-tale like floral decor that designer Jeff Leatham created. The atmosphere was filled with magic, peace, and love.
